Marisa Verwys, DVM — Chief of Staff
Dr. Marisa Verwys, our Chief of Staff, is originally from Southern California, where she grew up with many cats and a family dog. She attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University earning a DVM degree. Dr. Verwys enjoyed four years in East Lansing and finally got to see some real seasons that she was deprived of growing in up in Southern California.
After graduation, Dr. Verwys moved to Florida where she spent eight wonderful years at a small animal practice and started a family as well. As much as Dr. Verwys enjoyed living in Florida, the pull of family and friends was stronger and she moved backed to Michigan with her husband.
Kirsten Begin, DVM
Dr. Kirsten Begin is a Michigan native who went to Michigan State University for both undergraduate studies as well as veterinary school. After graduation, she spent a year at Mississippi State University completing a rotating internship. Later she spent a year at the Animal Specialty and Emergency Center in Los Angeles, California completing a surgical internship.
Upon returning to Michigan, Dr. Begin started practicing as a relief veterinarian where she gets to travel to a variety of different clinics and meet new people and their pets. Currently she splits her time between working at the Kentwood Cat Clinics and traveling as a relief doctor. Dr. Begin shares her home with her cat, Linus.
Kristin Pair, DVM
Dr. Kristin Pair is a native of West Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation she worked for many years at a small animal practice until she got to live her true dream of working with only cats. She has a special interest in internal medicine and cardiology.
Dr. Pair shares her home with a Rottenweiler, a guinea pig, and 7 amazing kitties. She is married and has a daughter that is quite an accomplished disc golfer. She spends much of her free time on the disc golf course with her family.
Alyson Keir, DVM
Dr. Alyson Keir first started working at the Kentwood Cat Clinic as an assistant in 1998. She graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She worked mainly in emergency medicine and came back to work with cats full time in 2013.
Dr. Keir grew up in both Michigan and Maine. She has 3 cats and occasionally some foster kittens. In her free time, Dr. Keir likes to crochet, sew catnip toys to raise money for charity, read, and watch too much TV.
